My name is Mel and I love nearly everything related to running, fitness and eating well and like many, love to travel and explore the world.
I have always been active, participating in cross country in primary school to dabbling in school sports such as tennis and volleyball. My real love of running started when a friend told me she was going to the Gold Coast Half Marathon in 2009. The first thought that popped into my head was if she can do it so can I. It would be longest distance I had ever run, so I signed up, followed the training plan and successfully hit my goal of making it to the finish line on race day.
This first run started that fire in belly, as I really started to discover the benefits of being physically active – the positive effect it had on mind especially with the general stress of work and life.
